Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at Info@walkthenewforest.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

The easiest way is to book online. As long as space on the walk is available it is bookable. If you are not sure and want to make a reservation, please get in touch by filling in the enquiry form or leave a message at info@walkthenewfores.comt and we will confirm availability.

When you book online you will be asked to pay the full price by paypal or credit/debit card. You will receive an email confirmation of you booking and payment.

Most of the walking routes are along level or moderate undulating forest tracks and soft grass paths. The paths are generally dry underfoot but sometimes we may cross boggy areas of heath or small streams.

You should have the fitness of someone who is regularly active and enjoys moderate walks of 4 to 5hrs. If you have any medical condition that could restrict your ability to complete the walk safely then please reconsider whether this is the right activity for you. Please contact us to discuss and we can help you decide.

We keep our group sizes small with a maximum of 8 guests plus the guide. This ensures a more personal environment in which to enjoy your walk and meeting other fellow walkers. By keeping the groups small there is less disturbance to the environment we walk through and more opportunities to encounter wildlife.

Walking in the New Forest requires no specialist equipment as such. However, comfortable walking shoes or boots and a day sac for carrying water bottle, snacks and a rainproof jacket is advisable. A camera and binoculars can be useful to capture those special moments but are not essential.

Yes definitely, a walk is not a good walk without tea or coffee and cake. We will provide hot drink and freshly made cake or pastry half way through the walk a 'fika' moment amongst the trees. Fika is a Swedish custom for taking a break from activity and having coffee and eat cake.

We will provide mini- bus transfer to the start of the walk and return drop off at the end of the day. There will be two pickup/drop off locations as follows:

                                                   Pick up            Drop off return

Brockenhurst Railway Station -   9.30am           16.00pm

Lyndhurst Visitor Centre         -    9.45am           16.15pm

All times are subject to local traffic conditions and guest must allow sufficient time to make any onward journey by public transport. Walk the New Forest is not responsible for any missed connecting travel arrangements. Similarly, all parking fees must allow for any possible delays, and we recommend paying a stay of min 6hrs.

Unfortunately dogs are not  permitted on these walks. The main reason being we would like every one to enjoy the walking experience and not everyone is keen on dogs so we have made the decision to not allow them on our walks.
